The University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dar Al Ber Society to collaborate on the development of engineering designs and implementation mechanisms for the Society’s construction projects within the UAE and internationally.
The MoU was signed by Professor Esameldin Agami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Abdullah Ali Al Falasi, CEO of Dar Al Ber Society.
Professor Esameldin Agami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, expressed his pleasure in signing the agreement with Dar Al Ber Society, one of the leading organizations in the field of charitable and humanitarian work.
He noted that academic and research collaboration between Dar Al Ber Society and the College of Engineering at the University of Sharjah opens new avenues for joint initiatives. He emphasized that the Society’s diverse projects, combined with the College’s research expertise, will help drive innovative efforts that support sustainable development and benefit the wider community.
He further stressed that the University’s faculty members and students will play an active role in the Society’s future projects, both locally and internationally, thereby reinforcing the values of giving and solidarity, while strengthening the University’s contribution to community service and development at both local and international levels.
Abdullah Ali Al Falasi, CEO of Dar Al Ber Society, stated: “This Memorandum of Understanding represents a pioneering model of partnership between academic institutions and charitable and humanitarian organizations. It reflects our commitment to advancing our construction projects both within the UAE and abroad, based on advanced engineering principles.”
He added that the Society seeks, through its projects, to achieve sustainable development in communities, aligned with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership. This will be achieved by adopting innovative and modern solutions focused on education, healthcare, housing, infrastructure, and renewable energy to improve the quality of life in target communities.
Through this initiative, the Society reaffirms its vital role in promoting the values of solidarity, giving, and innovation, and in creating a positive impact that supports human development at both local and international levels.
The agreement focuses on collaboration in preparing comprehensive research papers with design outcomes developed by the University’s faculty members and students. This includes conducting general studies on the use of available materials in target countries, applying advanced construction technologies, and developing contemporary, innovative designs that align with the principles of sustainability and renewable energy. Furthermore, the agreement entails cooperation in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of projects.
The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs; Professor Abdulwahab Bin Mohammed, Acting Dean of the College of Engineering; Professor Mohamed Maalej, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering; Professor Emad Mushtaha, Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering; and Youssef Al Yateem, Assistant CEO for the Zakat and Community Development Sector at Dar Al Ber Society.
