The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has confirmed that the country will be affected from Wednesday to Friday by an extension of a surface and upper-level depression from the south.
This will be accompanied by the advance of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), which will move from the south towards the country. This will lead to an influx of humid air from the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
The centre indicated that these conditions will lead to an increase in daytime temperatures and, due to the presence of the eastern mountains, cumulus clouds will form over scattered areas.
The weather forecast for the next three days predicts the formation of cumulus clouds over some eastern and southern areas, sometimes extending to inland areas. This will be accompanied by rainfall of varying intensity, with occasional lightning and thunder, especially on Wednesday and Thursday. There is also a possibility of small hail.
The NCM explained that winds would be southeasterly to northeasterly and moderate in speed, occasionally strong enough to produce cumulus clouds and stir up dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility.
The NCM added that the sea would be light to moderate at times in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
