Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a man to pay Dhs15,000 in compensation to a woman after he harassed her with repeated phone calls and text messages.
The woman filed a lawsuit against the man, demanding Dhs51,000 in compensation for material and moral damages, in addition to legal fees and attorney’s fees.
She submitted a copy of a criminal judgment as evidence.
The plaintiff stated that she was harmed due to the defendant’s repeated phone calls and messages, adding that she filed a criminal complaint, which fined him Dhs5,000.
The court ruled that the defendant’s actions damaged the plaintiff’s reputation within the community and caused her distress through his persistent calls and messages. This led to psychological impacts, including stress, anxiety, and sleep disturbances, as well as violations of her privacy. The repeated calls from an unknown number also caused misunderstandings within her family, the court stated.
Based on the established facts in the previous criminal judgment, the court ordered the defendant to pay the plaintiff Dhs15,000 in compensation for all moral and psychological damages she incurred.
