Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has completed a project to develop and upgrade the road linking Interchange 10 and Al Rafi’a area, all the way to Emirates Road.
The comes as part of a package of development projects carried out by SRTA to meet the needs of emerging areas and achieve the highest traffic safety standards in line with its ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of infrastructure and improve the quality of the road network across the emirate.
The 17-km project included comprehensive maintenance of the asphalt layers and expansion of the road shoulder in both directions with a view to enhancing traffic flow in light of the continued growth of population in the area.
Eng. Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, emphasised that the project is part of SRTA’s plans to improve infrastructure across all areas of the emirate, which is witnessing rapid growth.
The upgraded road would connect several areas and enhance access to the Emirates Road, which would ease traffic flow and serve the objectives of comprehensive development, he said.
The work also included improving road safety levels by developing turning areas and intersections and installing the necessary traffic and directional signs to keep pace with urban growth and enhance the road’s daily capacity to accommodate the increasing number of vehicles.
