Emirati women have secured leadership roles in the country’s economic sector by investing over Dhs60 billion in the national and private economies. This demonstrates their competence and capabilities in business and investment.
Female business leaders lauded the substantial support furnished by astute leadership to Emirati women engaged in the economic sector, who have contributed to growth by initiating their own projects. It was explained that this support has been instrumental in the success of their businesses.
Hana Al Rostamani, the Group CEO of the First Abu Dhabi Bank, is quoted as stating, “The Emirati Women’s Day is a national occasion that underscores the nation’s pioneering achievements in the field of women’s empowerment, a legacy that has been established by the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He believed that women were integral to building the nation and therefore promoted their education and empowerment, encouraging them to take on leadership and decision-making roles. Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, known as the ‘Mother of the Nation’, has pursued this approach through strategic initiatives designed to empower women and enhance their role in the process of development and progress.”
Dr. Shafika Al Ameri, Chairperson of the Emirates Entrepreneurship Association (EEA), mphasized that the day signifies a significant opportunity to commemorate the accomplishments and progress of women across various sectors and domains. She underscored the necessity for women to assume a genuine partnership role alongside men in the process of construction, development, and progress, with the objective of propelling the nation towards growth and excellence in all spheres, thereby attaining substantial achievements.
For her part, Farida Abdullah Qambar Al Awadhi, Chairwoman of the Emirates Businesswomen Council, stated, “On the Emirati Women’s Day, we must acknowledge the significant contributions of women in achieving remarkable achievements. These accomplishments are a testament to the unwavering support and visionary leadership that has consistently emphasized women’s potential and empowered them to become active partners in the nation’s development process.”
Reed Hamad Al Dhaheri, a board member of Lulu Retail and a member of the Emirates Esports Federation, emphasized that celebrating Emirati Women’s Day highlights the important role women play in achieving sustainable development. She explained that Emirati women have played a prominent role in the UAE’s economic and social renaissance.
In the meantime, Yusra Al Hashmi, an engineer in the Quality Assurance and Testing Department at SAB in the UAE, stated, “On the Emirati Women’s Day this year, I acknowledge the progress made by Emirati women in all sectors. In the defence and security sector, Emirati women are at the forefront of innovation, developing advanced systems and contributing to peacekeeping operations. This ongoing effort serves to reinforce the UAE’s economic and defence capabilities, guided by a comprehensive national vision and policies that facilitate women in achieving a healthy work-life balance.”
