Al Ain Court for Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Cases ordered two men to pay a third Dhs250,000, including a Dhs30,000 fine, after they were found guilty of stealing two vehicles owned by the third.
The conviction was based on a previous criminal case.
The plaintiff filed a lawsuit against the defendants, seeking a court order to compel them jointly to pay Dhs220,000, the value of the two stolen vehicles, and an additional Dhs30,000 as compensation for material and moral damages.
The plaintiff also requested legal interest of 9% from the date of the judicial claim until full payment, along with legal fees and expenses.
He based his claim on the fact that the defendants stole two vehicles valued at Dhs220,000, and they were convicted in a previous criminal case.
He said he suffered significant damages due to the defendants' actions, prompting him to file the lawsuit.
The court stated that the defendants' fault was proved. The plaintiff provided price quotations for the stolen vehicles at the time of the theft, with each vehicle valued at Dhs110,000.
The court accepted these quotations as the basis for material compensation.
Since neither defendant returned the vehicles to the plaintiff, they were held jointly liable for the total value of Dhs220,000.
The court also noted that the defendants' actions caused moral damage to the plaintiff, including psychological distress resulting from the theft. So the court ordered them to compensate the plaintiff for moral damages with Dhs30,000.
