In a generous humanitarian gesture, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia donated blood as part of an annual blood donation campaign he launched.
The initiative reflects his continued patronage of humanitarian work and encouragement for all members of society to take part in blood donation, in line with the Quranic verse, “And whoever saves one life, it is as if he has saved all of mankind.” It also embodies his commitment to strengthening community participation, promoting a culture of voluntary donation, and supporting national healthcare efforts to achieve 100% voluntary blood donation in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a vibrant society enjoying comprehensive health and well-being.
This initiative is an extension of the noble humanitarian stances of the Kingdom’s leadership in various fields, including receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, and the registration of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince in the national organ donation program.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of voluntary blood donation, achieve self-sufficiency in blood and its components, and ensure the availability of safe and sustainable supplies to meet the needs of patients across the Kingdom. A single donation can save lives through the provision of a unit of blood, plasma, or platelets. In 2024, the number of blood donors exceeded 800,000.
The Crown Prince’s donation represents an inspiring model of humanitarian leadership and conveys a valuable message on the importance of volunteer initiatives. It also motivates members of society to embrace the culture of giving and contribute to this noble act of saving lives.
