The security forces at the Abu Dhabi Police General Command, in collaboration with the National Anti-Narcotics Authority, have arrested a gang of three Asian nationals found to be in possession of 377 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
Using their extensive knowledge of the field, the anti-narcotics officers were able to discern the gang's systematic modus operandi and prevent them from concealing the narcotics within oil jerry cans that had been repurposed as sewing machine components.
Brigadier Taher Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, explained that the gang had tried to hide the drugs using an innovative method. However, the efficiency and competence of the anti-narcotics personnel prevented them from achieving their goal.
He emphasised that the anti-narcotics personnel's success in seizing the narcotics and arresting the gang members was due to the wise leadership's support for the anti-narcotics efforts and provision of the necessary resources to pursue individuals involved in drug-related crimes. This aligns with the National Anti-Narcotics Authority's strategy to enhance security and safety nationwide.
He urged members of the community not to be swayed by the misconception that drug use makes you happy and relaxed. In reality, it has very negative effects on health and safety.
He urged the public to report any drug-related information they receive to the Aman switchboard on 8002626.
