The region will experience hot and humid weather conditions, known as "Wa'kat Suhail"or "Zafarat Suhail" (Canopus Heatwaves), from the appearance of the star Canopus in late August 2025 until the autumnal equinox on September 23, 2025, according to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society and member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences.
These conditions cause fatigue due to high humidity, despite temperatures being milder compared to previous heatwaves.
Al Jarwan explained that these weather patterns may persist until day and night lengths equalize during the autumnal equinox, adding that a noticeable improvement in the weather typically occurs after the second star of Canopus rises in late September, when temperatures begin to gradually decline.
Rain hits some areas
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), light to heavy rain fell in various areas of Al Ain on Monday. The NCM predicts that the rain will continue until Thursday due to an eastern surface low-pressure system extending over the country, accompanied by a weak upper-air low-pressure system. It also predicts a drop in temperatures starting Thursday, with dusty winds expected from Tuesday to Friday.

On Wednesday, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with potential cumulus cloud formation in the east and south, leading to rainfall. Winds will be southwesterly, shifting to northeasterly, light to moderate, and occasionally strong and dust and sand stirring.
On Thursday, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy to cloudy in some eastern and southern areas, with a chance of rain.
These weather changes highlight the transition from summer to autumn, influenced by astronomical phenomena and seasonal shifts in the UAE.
