The Government of Umm Al Quwain made significant strides in achieving urban progress in the emirate through carrying out and developing a number of infrastructure projects under close follow-up by His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain.
These projects are part of plans to develop infrastructure through high-quality road networks, providing the emirate’s regions and cities with service facilities and tourist sites and preserving its environmental features.
To this effect, the Department of Urban Planning in Umm Al Quwain completed high-quality road networks that served a number of areas in the emirate, forming a vital link and meeting the needs of members of the society.
The emirate witnessed a quantum leap in the development of highways and internal roads. This included completion of four roads in Umm Al Thuoob Industrial Area, with a length of 2.35 km as part of the department’s development plan.
The 3.7-km King Faisal Street expansion project, was also completed including the service road, a third lane in each direction from the Clock Roundabout to the Union Bridge and vice versa and traffic diversions from the street to alternative roads in line with the urban boom and population density witnessed by the emirate.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure completed four projects to develop and upgrade streets in various areas of the emirate in addition to an internal roads project for Al Huboob residential area.
The four projects included the construction, development and upgrade of the Corniche Road in Umm Al Quwain, the expansion of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Street and the Second of December Street in the Al Salamah area, to become dual carriageways, and the removal of some roundabouts on the same streets.
The projects aim to keep pace with the urban development witnessed by the emirate’s residential areas, ensure the safety and security of road users and adopt strategic objectives that contribute to making the country’s streets among the best in terms of specifications and standards applied globally.
In addition, the Government of Umm Al Quwain announced a host of new future projects, which include paving internal roads in Umm Al Quwain Industrial City, providing an integrated infrastructure that meets the highest quality standards for traffic safety and security.
As part of infrastructure projects, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development completed 20 kilometers of internal roads in the Al Shuhada neighborhood in Umm Al Quwain, which includes 232 homes covering an area of 830,000 square meters.
The new roads serve the residents of the neighborhood, facilitating their movement from one place to another without encountering any difficulties or obstacles. They also provide them with safety and security while using internal roads, which can accommodate an increase in the number of vehicles.
As far as infrastructure projects are concerned, the Government of Umm Al Quwain completed 5.3-km of internal roads in Al Ramlah area, 4-km new streets in the Muhadhab area and 6-km streets in Al Musalla area in Falaj Al Mualla.
