Abu Dhabi Police implemented "Safe Journey... Safe Summer" initiative as part of the "Summer Without Accidents" campaign, focusing on raising awareness about the importance of vehicle tire inspections.
The initiative was launched on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Street in Tarif, Al Dhafra region.
It aimed to educate drivers and road users about the risks of driving with old or expired tires, according to brigadier Mahmoud Youssef Al Balushi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, who emphasised Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to launching awareness initiatives on various topics to ensure the safety of all road users. Al Balushi urged drivers to regularly inspect their vehicle tires, replace expired ones, and ensure new tires are in good condition and not affected by humidity or high temperatures.
Colonel Saif Mohammed Naif Al Ameri, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in Al Dhafra, noted that field teams distributed awareness booklets and gifts to drivers to encourage compliance with traffic laws. He added that gifts were also provided to children to instill road safety concepts from a young age, along with bottled water for road users.
In collaboration with the Traffic and Patrols Section and the Traffic Awareness and Education Branch, the Al Dhafra Traffic and Patrols Directorate explained to drivers the necessary precautions for summer driving, emphasising tire inspections and replacement if expired, cracked, or bulging. They also stressed the use of high-quality, compliant tires to prevent accidents caused by tire bursts.
