The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered an employee of a real estate company to pay Dhs437,464, along with Dhs100,000 in material and moral compensation.
The company filed a lawsuit against the employee, demanding repayment of Dhs437,464 and Dhs100,000 in compensation for damages, in addition to covering legal fees and expenses, alleging that the employee had embezzled the amount in question.
The Abu Dhabi Misdemeanour Court had previously fined the employee Dhs500,000 for the crime, a ruling upheld by the Court of Appeals, which also ordered him to repay the embezzled amount to the company.
However, the employee refused to comply without any legal or legitimate justification.
Case documents revealed that the criminal court had conclusively established the employee’s guilt in embezzling the amount, and the ruling had become final. The appellee appeared in court but failed to provide evidence of clearing his liability. Consequently, the court ordered him to repay the company the full amount.
Regarding the compensation claim, the court noted that the company had suffered damages due to the employee’s embezzlement. Therefore, he was ordered to pay the company Dhs100,000 as material and moral compensation.
