His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered a social care complex to be constructed in Al Ruwaidat suburb.
The complex, which covers an area of 140,000 square meters, will incorporate a women’s protection centre, an elderly care home, Al Rushd Oases for treating mentally ill people, a social care home for children, said Mariam Al Shamsi, Chairperson of Sharjah Social Services Department, who is also member of Sharjah Executive Council.
It will also incorporate a number of facilities including a mosque, a prayer room and parking spaces, among others, she added, noting that construction is expected to begin soon.
Sheikh Sultan also approved a decent living grant for 3,162 Sharjah families of two or more members at an annual cost of Dhs134 million. The grant is scheduled to be disbursed next month.
This programme will provide financial assistance to 3,162 families with two or more members who are registered with the department. The goal is to help these families increase their monthly income to Dhs17,500, which is seen as a reasonable standard of living.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Sultan approved the employment of 700 male and female citizens in government agencies until the end of the current year. He also approved the status adjustment of 254 Sharjah government employees, who attained new academic qualifications, including doctorates, masters, and bachelors, from grade 7 to grade 4 at a total cost of Dhs8,420,803, effective from the date of attainment of their academic certificates.
In addition, Sheikh Sultan approved promoting 1,523 government employees for the current year at a total cost of Dhs22 million.
