Superintendent of Police ANM Maruf Abdullah of the Bangladesh Police praised Dubai Police for its global leadership in security innovation and its forward-looking approach to modern policing.
He highlighted the force’s strategic initiatives, particularly the Police Innovation and Leadership (PIL) Diploma, in which he participated alongside 54 officers from 38 countries.
Supt. Abdullah said the intensive training programme offered practical tools that could be immediately applied in Bangladesh, including methods to combat cryptocurrency fraud, use of blockchain in forensic evidence management, and the integration of artificial intelligence in police work. “In Bangladesh, we face growing challenges in cybercrime and financial fraud,” he explained.
“The content on digital transformation in financial crime prevention was especially valuable. It helped me shape effective strategies to improve my unit’s performance.” Among the programme highlights, Supt. Abdullah noted the final project, which focused on raising awareness about the risks of cryptocurrency-related crimes.
He said it strengthened his understanding of digital threats and enhanced his ability to simplify technical content for public outreach—an essential skill for successful awareness campaigns. He described the PIL Diploma as “a golden opportunity” to become part of a progressive and influential policing vision, and to learn directly from a force that has excelled in leveraging technology to set a global example.
Organised by Dubai Police in collaboration with the Rochester Institute of Technology in Dubai, the programme also included leadership development and wellness training.
Abdullah said the leadership modules helped him adopt a strategic mindset and build decision-making confidence, while the wellness sessions reinforced the importance of mental and physical sustainability in policing roles.
Supt. Abdullah called on police agencies around the world to study Dubai Police’s philosophy of linking innovation with public trust and safety. “Dubai Police harnesses smart city systems, data analytics, and AI surveillance to enhance prevention, transparency, and public satisfaction,” he said.
“This is a model that global police leadership should seriously consider and learn from.” In closing, Supt. Abdullah expressed his sincere gratitude to the UAE Government and Dubai Police for the opportunity to participate in the diploma, noting that it gave him “renewed motivation to drive change in policing practices back home.”
