The Department of Municipalities and Transport, represented by Abu Dhabi Municipality, has completed “Al Fereej Play Areas 2” project in the new Al Falah City. The initiative is part of the municipality’s efforts to expand the network of residential neighbourhood parks, enhancing community well-being and quality of life.
Funded by Mubadala Investment Company in collaboration with the Authority of Social Contribution “Ma’an”, the project aims to provide a safe, sustainable, and recreational environment that meets the needs of all age groups. It focuses on promoting sports activities, encouraging positive social interaction, and adhering to the highest standards of safety and environmental sustainability.
The project includes a comprehensive play area featuring diverse sports and recreational facilities, such as children’s playgrounds, fitness equipment, a padel tennis court, and a multi-purpose sports field. It also incorporates service and aesthetic elements, including seating areas, natural features like sustainable local trees and plants which consume less water, provide natural shade, and cool the environment.
Additionally, rubber flooring has been installed in children’s play areas with high shock absorption features, slip resistance, and durability, ensuring long-term sustainability. The design and implementation of these elements adhere to the highest quality and safety standards, taking into account the UAE’s climate conditions and the ease of conducting regular maintenance to ensure long-term sustainability.
The municipality also ensured the project is equipped with distinctive lighting through the installation of smart, energy-efficient LED lighting poles throughout the area, which provide optimal illumination for safe evening use, with a strategically distributed lighting system ensuring comprehensive coverage of the site.
