Two people were killed and at least three others injured by gunfire in a shooting at a casino in Reno, Nevada, early on Monday morning, according to media reports.
The shooting took place in the parking lot of the Grand Sierra Resort. At least two people were killed and at least three others required hospitalization for their injuries, CNN reported, citing the local public health office.
Officers with the Reno Police Department took a suspect into custody, according to a brief statement. The suspect was hospitalised, CNN reported, citing the same health office. The police did not immediately respond to inquiries.
The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was seen pacing in the parking lot for about 45 minutes before the shooting and his gun briefly jammed after he started shooting, CNN reported, citing an unnamed law enforcement officer.
Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve also told the Reno Gazette Journal that she believed that two people were dead.
"We're trying to pull together what happened," Schieve told the newspaper. She said that she believed that two people were in critical condition.
Reno is the second-largest city in Nevada after Las Vegas, and is similarly known for its casinos.
