The Traffic and Security Patrols Department in Al Dhafra Region, in coordination with the Special Patrols Department, arrested individuals in Liwa for reckless driving and failing to comply with traffic laws and regulations.
They do not hold driving licences, the police confirmed.
According to the reports, they performed dangerous stunts and ignored calls of police officers to stop and fled the scene, displaying behaviour that was both uncivilised and hazardous to themselves and other road users.
Brigadier Mohammed Dahi Al Humairi, Director of the Central Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, confirmed that field teams had responded professionally and swiftly to reports, arresting the offenders and taking the necessary legal action.
He emphasised that reckless driving is one of the main causes of serious traffic accidents.
He urged road users, particularly young people, to adhere to traffic rules and avoid reckless behaviour. He noted that ensuring the safety and security of the community is a top priority for Abu Dhabi Police and that any behaviour which threatens public order, or endangers lives or property, will not be tolerated.
Brigadier Mahmoud Yousef Al Bloushi, Director of the Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, urged parents to monitor their children's behaviour and encourage them to use vehicles safely and responsibly.
He further stressed that leniency towards such violations reinforces negative behaviour among certain groups and exposes them to serious legal and physical risks.
He also stressed the importance of the public's role in supporting security efforts, urging them to collaborate by reporting any dangerous or illegal practices via the Aman service on 8002626 or by SMS to 2828.
