The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court sentenced a man to 10 years in jail for sexually assaulting a child by force inside his vehicle. The court also prohibited him from residing in the victim’s residential area after serving his sentence.
The case dated back to a report filed by one of the child’s relatives, in which he stated that the 10-year-old child was assaulted by the defendant in a residential area near their place of residence. The defendant lured the child into his vehicle where he sexually assaulted him.
Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution initiated an investigation into the incident and a search and investigation report confirmed the presence of the defendant’s vehicle at the crime scene on the date of the incident. The vehicle was also observed stopping for a period of time near a school before later leaving the site.
The forensic laboratory report also revealed the presence of the victim’s fingerprints inside the vehicle in addition to a genetic makeup that pointed to the defendant and the victim.
Based on the evidence and documented technical reports presented to it, the court decided to sentence the defendant to 10 years in jail and confiscate the vehicle used in the assault.
The court also prohibited the defendant from residing at less than five kilometres away from the victim’s residence after serving his jail term.
