From Friday, 25 July 2025, banks operating in the country will stop sending one-time passwords (OTPs) to customers via SMSs or email for all types of electronic transactions and financial transfers, whether domestic or international. Instead, these transactions will be authenticated using a smart mobile application.
As stated in an official document: In accordance with the directives issued by the UAE Central Bank, the practice of receiving OTPs (one-time passwords) via SMSs or email will gradually be phased out.
Customers can now easily complete electronic transactions via the smart application by selecting the 'Authentication via App' feature.
