The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court ordered an employee to pay Dhs37,700 and vacate the accommodation provided by his former employer.
The employee had failed to pay rent for a year and refused to leave the accommodation even after his job was terminated and the legal 30-day notice period had expired.
The case dates back to the time when a company filed a lawsuit against a former employee, demanding the termination of the lease agreement, eviction of the employee, return of the accommodation, and payment of the outstanding rent of Dhs37,700, along with fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
The company stated that the employee was provided with accommodation at an annual rent of Dhs37,700 but he failed to pay the rent for an entire year and after he was terminated, he was officially notified to vacate the premises but did not comply.
In its ruling, the court noted that the company had allocated the accommodation to the employee through its housing committee. The court added that it was established that the labour contract between the company and the employee had ended.
Given the employee’s failure to appear in court to present his defence and his non-payment of the outstanding amount, the court ordered him to pay Dhs37,700.
