Sharjah Police launched an awareness campaign under the slogan ‘Cross Safely’ to enhance the abidance of motorists and pedestrians by traffic laws and create a safer traffic environment for all road users.
The campaign focuses on two main aspects: educating drivers about the importance of coming to a complete stop at zebra crossings and urging the public to abide by traffic rules and instructions.
Meanwhile, Colonel Omar Bu Ghanem, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, affirmed that this campaign came as part of a series of awareness initiatives implemented by Sharjah Police annually to raise the level of traffic safety, reduce accidents and injuries and enhance traffic awareness.
The launch of the campaign is based on an analysis of field indicators and is aimed at consolidating a culture of respecting traffic rules among drivers and pedestrians and reducing violations related to incorrect crossing behaviours, he added.
Sharjah Police called on all members of society to engage positively with the campaign and adhere to its message, stressing that abiding by traffic rules is a shared responsibility that contributes to saving lives and achieving the highest levels of safety on the emirate’s roads.
