Heavy rain was witnessed in Abu Dhabi on Sunday evening, bringing the temperature by a few notches in the area.
Videos shared online shows cars moving at a slow pace on Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road as some motorists cheer the rain.
The the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said that various areas of Al Ain city experienced light to heavy rain on Sunday, adding that rains fell on Saa, Khatm Al Shiklah, Umm Ghafa, Malaqit, Al Hayer, Mazyad, Masakin, and Dubai-Al Ain Road from 1:30pm to 7:30pm.
Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to exercise caution due to the rainy weather conditions and to adhere to the variable speed limits displayed on electronic signs and road markers.
The UAE has been experiencing severe heatwave this season, with the temperature breaching the 50°C mark thrice.
Monday will experience the formation of convective clouds accompanied by rainfall, particularly in eastern and southern regions, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM added that strong and dust stirring winds, with speeds amounting to 45 km/h will blow in some areas on Sunday, from 1:30pm to 7:30pm. Monday’ weather will be clear to partly cloudy, with convective clouds forming in the east and south, bringing rainfall.
Nighttime and early Tuesday morning will be humid in some coastal and inland areas, with a chance of light fog.
Winds will be southeasterly, shifting to northwesterly, light to moderate, occasionally active and stirring dust during the day, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, amounting to 40 km/h and the sea will be light in the Arabian Gulf and light to moderate in the Sea of Oman.
Tuesday’s weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy, with potential convective clouds in the afternoon in the east and south.
Winds are expected to be southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, occasionally active and stirring dust during the day, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, amounting to 40 km/h. The sea is expected to be light in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Wednesday’s weather will be clear to partly cloudy, with low clouds appearing in the east.
