Sharjah is 99.7% safe, says emirate's police chief

Sharjah Police chief says the emirate's qualitative progress, exemplified by the increase in the safety feeling rate to 99.7 per cent in 2024.

Major General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, commended the emirate's qualitative progress, exemplified by the increase in the safety feeling rate to 99.7 per cent in 2024.
He stressed that this success is a direct reflection of the insightful vision and wise guidance of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
His continuous patronage has played a key role in strengthening security, improving the preparedness of the police force and promoting its long-term development, in line with the UAE's aspirations for a safe society that enjoys stability and a high quality of life.
He also noted that the continuous interest and tireless follow-up of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, had a significant impact on supporting the development process.
This enabled the General Command to achieve its security and societal goals and enhance the efficiency of police performance within a strategic framework based on quality, institutional integration and strengthening community partnerships.

He further expressed his appreciation to the Sharjah Executive Council and the Sharjah Consultative Council for their ongoing support of the Sharjah Police, which has helped to achieve these positive results.
He also commended the Department of Statistics and Community Development for its vital role as a strategic partner and for accurately and scientifically measuring community opinion and presenting security indicators with high professionalism and objectivity.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasised that the accomplishments achieved thus far are a testament to the efficacy of integrated institutional endeavours, underpinned by an ambitious vision guided by proficient police personnel who demonstrate unwavering commitment to ensure community security.
These endeavours align with the heightened awareness of community members, whose sustained cooperation and dedication to legal frameworks have contributed to the strengthening of security measures and the enhancement of the Sharjah Police's readiness to achieve its vision of establishing a secure community that enjoys a high quality of life, guided by the prudent leadership.
Brigadier Omar Ahmed Bu Al Zoud, Director General of the General Directorate of Criminal Security and Ports, explained that all security indicators demonstrate the effectiveness and preparedness of the police system in the Emirate of Sharjah.
He pointed out that community confidence in the Sharjah Police's ability to maintain security and stability reached 97%, the feeling of safety during the day reached 99.7%, the feeling of safety at home at night reached 99.3%, the feeling of safety in public places at night reached 99.3%, the feeling of safety walking alone outside at night reached 98.6%, the feeling of safety on the road (while driving or using public transport) reached 98.9%, and confidence in police stations reached 96.7%.
These indicators are a direct result of the advanced preventive approach that prioritises human security and safety.
He also pointed out that high-quality security indicators form the cornerstone of building a comprehensive, sustainable quality of life. These indicators reflect not only lower crime rates and a greater sense of security, but also the growing level of trust between citizens and the police, which is a trend that we are committed to sustaining.
