The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has identified six distinct work patterns in the private sector, offering flexibility and diversity to meet the needs of both employers and employees.
These patterns are: Full-Time employment (Working for a single employer for the full daily working hours throughout the designated workdays), Part-Time employment (Working for one or more employers for a specified number of hours or days, as agreed upon), Temporary Work (Employment with a specific duration or for a particular project, ending upon its completion), Flexible Work (Work hours or days vary based on the employer’s operational needs, economic conditions, and the employee’s availability, allowing for dynamic scheduling), Remote Work (Work performed entirely or partially outside the workplace, with communication between the employee and employer conducted electronically), and Job Sharing (Tasks and responsibilities are divided among multiple employees to complete predefined duties. Compensation is based on the work performed, and employees are treated under part-time work regulations.)
MoHRE emphasised that employers must use the approved contract template, matching the job offer, when applying for a work permit.
Additional benefits for the employee may be included in the contract, and appendices can be added, provided they do not contradict the provisions of the decree-law and its executive regulations.
MoHRE stressed that employees are required to retain a digital or physical copy of the employment contract for at least two years from the date of termination or expiration of the employment relationship.
