Fujairah customs foils heroin smuggling attempt

 On Wednesday, the General Administration of Ports at the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, in cooperation with Fujairah International Airport, successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of heroin concealed within a consignment of food supplements. This was facilitated by the efficiency of customs inspection officers and the implementation of smart technologies at the country's . 

The customs inspection department at Fujairah International Airport held a traveller of Asian nationality while he was attempting to enter the country from his country of origin. On searching his bag, a quantity of food supplements, including 100 boxes containing 6,000 food capsules, along with 70 bags of a powdered food supplement were suspected by the customs officers. . Following rigorous examination of the contents of these supplements using modern technology, the presence of heroin was revealed. 

Consequently, the necessary legal measures were taken.  The Authority asserts that the successful thwarting of the aforementioned smuggling attempt is indicative of the vigilance and competence exhibited by customs inspection officers at airports.

Furthermore, it is asserted that the efficacy of the utilisation of contemporary smart devices in the detection of narcotics contributes to the enhancement of community security and the effective combatting of smuggling attempts.
