Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has implemented a vital project to improve traffic flow on Al Dhaid Road as part of its ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of the emirate’s road network.
The project will contribute to smoother mobility and keep pace with the region's rapid population and urban growth.
Eng. Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, revealed that the project included the addition of a new traffic lane in both directions with a total length of 13.8 kilometres in the areas extending from Interchange 3 to Interchange 5 and from Interchange 4 to Interchange 3.
"The project aims to increase the road’s capacity and alleviate traffic congestion, especially during peak times," he added.
He explained that the project was not be limited to adding lanes alone, but also includes a series of engineering modifications to a number of vital entrances and exits along the road with the aim of improving traffic flow and raising the level of traffic safety.
These modifications also contribute to easing the movement of people entering and exiting the main road and providing a safer and more comfortable experience for road users, both drivers and pedestrians, he added.
SRTA is committed to regularly studying and analyzing traffic conditions across the emirate’s various regions, using specialized technical teams that utilize the latest world-class equipment and smart technologies to monitor traffic congestion and identify bottlenecks, he said.
Based on this, effective and sustainable solutions are developed that positively impact the quality of life and the level of services provided to residents and visitors, he added.
Al Othmani affirmed SRTA’s commitment to continuing to implement more development and expansion projects as part of a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at achieving Sharjah’s vision for an integrated and sustainable city.
The ongoing work is part of a series of integrated projects implemented by SRTA to improve traffic infrastructure and upgrade the road network across the emirate in such a manner that supports growth and meets future needs, he said.
SRTA has recently implemented a number of key projects including the development of major intersections, expansion of vital roads and implementation of smart traffic management systems, he added.
These efforts are designed to respond to the ongoing growth in the number of residents and vehicles and ensure a safe and efficient transportation environment that supports comprehensive development in the emirate, he said.
