Iran’s state-run news agency said on Monday that its governmental television station abruptly stopped a live broadcast after an Israeli strike.
During a live broadcast, the sound of an explosion could be heard as a the news presenter hurried off camera amid dust and debris wafting in the air.
Later during the day, Iran state TV resumed live coverage after Israel's attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) building.
"The Zionist regime the enemy of the Iranian nation minutes ago conducted a military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran news network", part of IRIB, said a senior official at the broadcasting service Hassan Abedini.
"The regime (Israel) was unaware of the fact that the voice of the Islamic revolution and the great Iran will not be silenced with a military operation."
Israel had issued a warning the evacuate the area of Iran’s capital where the TV studios are located an hour earlier, ahead of impending Israeli strikes.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said that Iran's state television and radio were "about to disappear," after an evacuation warning was issued for the district in Tehran where the broadcaster is based.
Israel's military urged residents in a portion of the capital's northern District 3 to evacuate "immediately" on Monday, saying it intended to carry out air strikes there. "In the coming hours, the (Israeli military) will operate in the area, as it has in recent days throughout Tehran, to strike military infrastructure of the Iranian regime," the military said in a post on X in Persian.
Shortly before dawn on Monday, Iran had fired a new wave of missile attacks on Israel, triggering air raid sirens across the country as emergency services reported at least eight killed and dozens more wounded
It's the fourth day of a conflict between the regional foes began when Israel attacked Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program. The tit-for-tat attacks between Israel and Iran escalated over the weekend, raising fears of a wider, more dangerous regional war.
