Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has received a new electric bus to add to the emirate’s public transport fleet as part of SRTA’s strategic plans to enhance sustainable transportation and adopt innovative environmental solutions.
The bus was received in the presence of Eng. Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, and Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of SRTA’s Transport Affairs.
Al Othmani and Al Jarwan were briefed on the capabilities and technical specifications of the new bus, which meet the latest international standards in electric transportation.
This step is part of SRTA’s ongoing efforts to reduce the carbon footprint and provide environmentally friendly transportation options in line with the Emirate of Sharjah’s orientations in sustainable development and environment conservation fields.
The new bus, which is fully electric, boasts high energy efficiency and significantly reduced emissions, while providing passengers with a comfortable and safe journey, Al Othmani said.
SRTA is continuing to expand its fleet of electric buses over the coming years as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at gradually shifting to more sustainable means of transportation and achieving the highest levels of quality and efficiency in services provided to the public, he added.
