Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) administratively shut down 28 restaurants and food facilities in Abu Dhabi since the beginning of the year for violating law no. 2 for 2008 regarding food in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the regulations issued thereunder and posing a danger to public health.
These included among others a restaurant on Hamdan Street, a supermarket in Al Khalidiya (West 6), a facility on Hamdan Street (East 3), a supermarket in Musaffah Industrial Area, a poultry farm in Al Ajban, a commercial facility in Al Shahama, a grocery in Musaffah 9, two restaurants in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, a restaurant in New Shahama, a restaurant in Al Shahama, a restaurant on Al Falah Street, a restaurant and a café in Abu Dhabi City, a supermarket in Musaffah Industrial City, a restaurant in Abu Dhabi Industrial City, a restaurant on Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street, five restaurants and a supermarket, a restaurant in Al Dana area, a restaurant in Madinat Zayed, three food establishments in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and a grocery on Hamdan Island East 3.
ADAFSA affirmed that inspection campaigns continue to be conducted annually to ensure that establishments adhere to food safety standards, highlighting its commitment to educating customers about best practices to ensure the safety of food products provided to consumers.
Through its social media pages, ADAFSA urged the public to rest assured about its responsibility for public and food safety, noting that all available food products are regularly and continuously inspected and monitored through inspection campaigns in restaurants, central kitchens, cafes and other food establishments.
The ADAFSA called on the public to communicate with it and report any food violations or any doubt about the contents of a food item by calling the Government of Abu Dhabi’s toll free number 800555, enabling its inspectors to take the necessary measures for the ultimate aim of providing safe food to all Abu Dhabi inhabitants.
