The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has urged all to utilise its electronic services for authenticating sick leaves issued within or outside the UAE, in line with specific regulations ensuring the reliability of medical reports and compliance with approved health systems.
The ministry stated that the service can be accessed via its website or smart app using digital identity, with fees paid electronically.
According to MoHAP, sick leaves not exceeding 5 days are automatically approved, while those longer than 5 days require review by a specialised medical committee, with decisions issued within one business day.
Also, leaves extending more than one month are submitted to the Higher Medical Committee for approval after electronic fee payment.
Meanwhile, the Subcommittee approves leaves not exceeding one month, provided the time difference between issuance and authentication request does not exceed one month.
Sick leaves issued by local health authorities do not require additional ministry authentication.
However, leaves and reports issued outside the UAE must first be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before being submitted to the medical committee for approval.
