Sharjah Municipality through joint cooperation and coordination between the inspection teams of the Control and Inspection Department and the Health and Safety Department, teams sealed a residence in one of the city's districts.
Its tenant had turned it into a site for filling water in plastic containers, promoting them as Zamzam water.
The tenants then fraudulently sold the water for large sums of money, in violation of regulations and laws.
The municipality immediately began taking the necessary legal and administrative measures.
Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, confirmed that the municipality is working continuously, around the clock, to monitor negative behaviors and practices that negatively impact the health of individuals and society.
Legal and administrative measures are also being taken against anyone who attempts to defraud people or cause them harm, whether to their health or morals, by engaging in activities that violate regulations, laws, customs, traditions, and other practices, and by attempting to earn money illegally.
Al Tunaiji explained that the seizure occurred as part of inspection tours of various areas. Vehicles were spotted loading and shipping large quantities of bottled water from a house. Immediately, the relevant teams coordinated to raid the site and arrest the person inside.
During the inspection, large quantities of cartons and plastic containers were seized, equipped with labels stating that the water was Zamzam water. The containers were bottled in unsanitary conditions, then promoted on social media and sold to the public.
The Director General of Sharjah City Municipality indicated that during the inspection, financial invoices were found for R.T. He was exploiting the company to defraud people, selling the tank water as Zamzam water and issuing invoices in the name of the licensed company.
The Municipality contacted the Department of Economic Development, which immediately shut down the facility. The Municipality also coordinated with the Sharjah Police General Command to refer the individual for investigation and take the necessary legal action against him.
