Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a father to pay Dhs2,380 in compensation to a woman who sustained a traffic accident caused by his son.
The son, riding an electric bike, jumped a red light and collided with the woman’s vehicle, owned by her sister, resulting in material and moral damages.
The woman filed a lawsuit demanding Dhs25,592 for vehicle repair costs and additional Dhs26,592 as compensation for damages, along with 12% legal interest from the date of the lawsuit until full payment.
The court reviewed an expert report, which stated that the vehicle repairs took three days, with a daily rental cost of Dhs90 for a replacement car, totaling Dhs270, and repair costs amounted to Dhs1,850, and towing expenses from the accident site to the workshop were Dhs157, with additional fees bringing the total to Dhs2,380. The court consequently ruled that the father, as the guardian, is liable for his son’s actions and ordered him to pay the total amount of Dhs2,380 to the plaintiff.
