The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has affirmed that if the percentage of Emiratis in an establishment decreases due to sudden resignation of Emiratis, no fines will be immediately imposed, adding that the establishment will be given a two-month grace period to appoint replacement Emiratis. The establishment’s contributions will be calculated in case of delay to do so.
If an establishment has terminated an Emirati’s employment contract for logical reasons (violations, absence, etc.), it is not required to pay its contributions immediately but will be given a two-month grace period to appoint a replacement Emirati, and the contribution will be calculated in the event of a delay to do so, it said.
The two-month grace period also applies to any establishment if it has appointed an Emirati at the beginning of the year but he has not completed one year of employment, it added.
The MoHRE stated that employers and establishments can obtain details of the ministerial decision regarding the 2 per cent Emiratisation rate by visiting its website (www.mohre.gov.ae) or social media account or contacting its call centre (600590000).
Representatives of establishments can also attend the workshops organised regularly by the MoHRE to explain the latest developments in the decision and the mechanism for its implementation.
The MoHRE stated that economic activities and establishments are being studied in terms of job types, work environment, geographical location, nature of economic activity growth and Emiratisation priorities.
The activities targeted for Emiratisation included information and communications; financial and insurance activities; real estate activities; professional, scientific and technical activities; administrative activities and support services; education; human health and social work activities; arts and entertainment; mining and quarrying; manufacturing industries; construction; wholesale and retail trade; transportation and storage; and accommodation and hospitality services, it said.
"The activities are updated regularly according to Emiratisation priorities in the private sector," it added.
