Al Ain Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a man to pay Dhs20,000 in compensation to a parent after the man’s negligence caused injuries to the parent’s daughter.
The incident occurred when the man failed to reduce his vehicle’s speed near a pedestrian crossing, resulting in a hit-and-run accident which resulted in injuring the girl and damaging of her electric scooter.
The parent filed a lawsuit demanding Dhs45,000 in compensation, along with court fees and expenses, saying that the suspect was previously convicted in a criminal case for the incident.
The plaintiff submitted evidence, including a copy of the criminal judgment and a certificate confirming the judgment was not appealed.
The appellee filed a memorandum requesting the inclusion of the insurance company in the case and the dismissal of the lawsuit.
The court noted that the appellee was convicted in a criminal case for endangering the girl’s physical safety and damaging her electric scooter due to negligence.
The court then ordered the appellee to pay Dhs20,000 to the plaintiff as compensation for all damages incurred by the girl.
