Al Ain Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a man to pay Dhs70,000 in compensation to another after defaming the latter’s store by publishing harmful statements about it on social media and other digital platforms.
The case began when the plaintiff filed a lawsuit demanding Dhs200,000 in compensation for material and moral damages caused by the appellee’s actions, which were previously proved in a criminal case upheld on appeal.
The plaintiff argued that the defamatory statements led to significant harm and losses to his store.
The court affirmed that the appellee’s wrongdoing was established and resulted in damage to the store.
Consequently, the court ordered the appellee to pay Dhs70,000 in compensation to the store owner.
