Abu Dhabi court orders woman to return excess alimony of over Dhs500,000 to ex-husband

Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a divorced woman to return Dhs542,082 to her ex-husband, which she received in excess of her alimony, and when he demanded its return, she refused.

In the details, the ex-husband filed a lawsuit against his ex wife, requesting that she be compelled to return Dhs542,082 to him, along with legal interest from the date of the judicial claim, in addition to the court fees, expenses, and attorney’s fees.

The court clarified that the documents confirmed the appellee had received an amount exceeding what was rightfully due to her and it was not proved to the court that she had returned the excess amount.

Therefore, the court determined that she owed the amount to her ex husband and consequently, ordered her to return Dhs542,082 to him.
