Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered a company to pay Dhs30,000 in compensation to a former employee who sustained injuries while performing work duties.
The company was previously fined Dhs10,000 in a criminal case for its negligence.
The employee filed a lawsuit demanding Dhs70,000 in compensation, plus 9% legal interest from the date of the lawsuit until full payment.
He claimed that during his work for the company, he was tasked with lifting items using a ladder, which collapsed, causing him multiple injuries.
Abu Dhabi Criminal Court had earlier fined the company Dhs10,000 and ordered it to pay court fees, with the ruling becoming final after the company’s appeal was rejected.
The court stated that the company’s mistake was proved, as its negligence caused physical and moral harm to the employee, and so it ordered the company to pay Dhs30,000 in compensation for all damages but rejected the claim for legal interest.
