As part of an intensive inspection campaign targeting all food establishments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality and protect consumers’ health, Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) announced strict action against violators.
As a result of the campaign, five restaurants and a supermarket were administratively shut down for violating food-related laws and regulations and posing a threat to public health.
ADAFSA explained that the administrative closure decision included Lahore Garden Grill Restaurant & Cafeteria LLC, located in Abu Dhabi, Al Khalidiya, West 4 and holding trade licence number CN-4904174; Karak Future Cafeteria, located in Abu Dhabi Island, West 4 and holding trade licence number 3998230; Rukn Al Maqam Restaurant, located in Musaffah Industrial Area 37 and holding trade licence number CN-1066090; Pak Ravi Restaurant, Branch 1, located in Musaffah Industrial Area 37 and holding trade licence number CN-1895014-1; and Salty Desi Darbar Restaurant, located in Musaffah Industrial Area 40 and holding trade licence number CN-4978963.
The decision also included closure of Rich & Fresh Supermarket LLC in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, East 9 in Abu Dhabi, which holds trade licence number CN-1750783.
The ADAFSA explained that the food control report stated that the administrative closure decision followed the facilities’ repeated violations of food safety requirements and their failure to correct these violations.
The administrative closure order would remain in effect until the facilities fulfilled all the requirements for healthy and safe food, it said.
The ADAFSA indicated that the closure and detection of the observed violations came as part of the inspection efforts aimed at strengthening the food safety system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and ensuring the abidance of all facilities by food safety requirements, noting that all facilities, irrespective of their nature and food products, are subject to regular inspection.
The ADAFSA called on the public to communicate with it and report any food violations or any doubt about the contents of a food item by calling the Government of Abu Dhabi’s toll free number 800555, enabling its inspectors to take the necessary measures for the ultimate aim of providing safe food to all Abu Dhabi inhabitants.
