Ahmed Mohammed Ali, a 24-year-old member of the UAE national archery team, and his 14-year-old brother, Ahmed, died in a tragic motorcycle accident on Tuesday evening on Al Madam Road in the Al Fali area of Sharjah.
The accident occurred when the motorcycle, driven by the elder brother, overturned due to excessive speed.
Sharjah Police reported that the younger brother, Ahmed, died on the spot, while the elder brother was rushed to Al Dhaid Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The tragic incident has left the local community and the sports world in shock, as the elder brother was well-known for his achievements in archery.
The police operations room received a report of the accident at around 8:00pm and emergency teams, including police patrols and national ambulance units, were instantly dispatched to the site.
Funeral prayers for the two brothers were held on Wednesday at Al Fali Mosque, followed by their burial in Al Fali Cemetery. A police official stated, “Motorcycles, when used unsafely or driven at high speeds, can become deadly.”
