The Russian Ministry of Defence announced in a statement that Russia and Ukraine exchanged 205 prisoners of war each on Tuesday, with Emirati mediation.
The statement added that the released Russian prisoners are now in Belarus to receive medical treatment and psychological support.
It is worth noting that last month, mediation efforts between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine successfully led to the largest prisoner exchange since the outbreak of the conflict between the two countries.
The exchange included 246 prisoners from the Ukrainian side and 246 from the Russian side.
The mediation also facilitated the exchange of several injured individuals, including 31 Ukrainians and 15 Russians, totaling 538 prisoners. This brings the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries through these mediations to 3,771.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its gratitude to both countries for their cooperation in the success of the mediation efforts, reflecting their trust and appreciation for the UAE’s commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis between them.
