In line with the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the ranks of "Senior Assistant" and "Chief Assistant" have been abolished.
New rank replacements have been approved for 1,232 personnel across various entities, including the Sharjah Police General Command, the Amiri Guard, the Sharjah Police Academy, and the Civil Defence Authority.
Affected personnel have been reclassified from "Senior Assistant" to "Assistant Officer."
The announcement was made by Major General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police.
He stated that the decision took effect retroactively from March 26, 2025, the date of the law’s issuance, with all financial and related matters adjusted accordingly.
Major General Bin Amer explained that the decision was based on Law No. 1 of 2025, which reorganises the police and public security forces in the emirate, and its amendments.
Additionally, Law No. 6 of 2025 amended Law No. 2 of 2021, specifically addressing the abolition of the ranks of "Senior Assistant" and "Chief Assistant," in the public interest.
He noted that the elimination of these ranks streamlines the hierarchical structure within the security and police forces, enhancing operational efficiency. The announcement was made during the "Direct Line" programme broadcast by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, hosted by media figure Mohammed Al Risei.
