The National Search and Rescue Centre of the National Guard swiftly responded to a report of a medical emergency affecting two individuals on a cargo ship 6.5 nautical miles from Al Hamriyah Port in the Emirate of Sharjah. The rescue teams successfully conducted a rescue operation.
In collaboration with the Coast Guard Group, the vessel was successfully located, and a search and rescue boat was promptly dispatched to facilitate the transportation of the injured individuals to the port, where they were provided with the requisite first aid.
One of the injured was also transported by the National Ambulance to a medical facility for the completion of the necessary treatment.
This operation forms part of the ongoing activities of the National Guard, which are designed to enhance security and safety through the provision of rapid response to ambulance and rescue operations in emergency situations.
The National Guard Command emphasised the necessity of adhering to safety procedures, urging seafarers to contact the marine emergency line (996) in the event of an emergency to facilitate a prompt response and ensure the safety of personnel.
