Dr Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, stated that the comprehensive economic partnerships embraced by the UAE serve as a testament to the significance of economic pluralism and a more interconnected and prosperous global community.
This could be seen as underscoring the necessity for a multifaceted approach grounded in realism and prioritising the enhancement of the lives of ordinary people through de-escalation and the reinforcement of governance.
In his keynote speech delivered on Monday morning at 11th annual Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate (ADSD) held at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Gargash highlighted the importance of collective and multilateral Arab action to address the challenge of militias and their impact on the stability of nation states, their sovereignty and their institutions.
He emphasised the need to find constructive ways to address this complex issue.
He expressed concern that the recent confrontation between Iran and Israel may not be indicative of long-term stability in the region. He emphasised the need to break this vicious cycle and work towards a stable future for all.
Gargash further highlighted the importance of the Palestinian Cause, while also noting the need to address other challenges in the region.
He emphasised the importance of supporting the national state, its sovereignty, and its monopoly on the use of weapons. He also noted that the UAE is keen to explore the potential of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in addressing climate change, energy sustainability and encouraging innovation.
Furthermore, the UAE is engaged in discussions on economic pluralism (G20, BRICS), which demonstrates the country's commitment to cooperation in addressing global challenges.
He put forth the idea that the focus should be on enhancing the lives of ordinary people and fostering their future in their homelands. He also drew attention to the UAE's commitment to humanitarian aid diplomacy, citing the country's active involvement in humanitarian aid in Gaza and Lebanon as evidence of this.
He further noted that the historic visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to the United States has contributed to the strengthening of the institutional relations between the UAE and the United States in a number of fields, including technology, emerging technologies, energy and defence.
