The Air Wing Section at Ras Al Khaimah Police rescued two Asians, who were stuck in a mountainous area in the emirate at an altitude of 4,500 feet.

One of them had a broken leg. Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Abdullah Ali Al Shehhi, Head of Air Wing Section, said a report was received by the operations room about two Asians stuck in a rugged mountainous area at an altitude of 4,500 feet, adding that one of them was suffering a foot injury.

A helicopter moved immediately to the area where the two reported Asians were located, he said, adding that they were found and airlifted to the hospital for the necessary medical care.

Al Shehhi stressed the importance for mountain hikers to be careful and vigilant and to abide by all preventive measures that would contribute to preserving their safety.

Recently, Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Air Wing Section rescued three Europeans who were stuck in a rugged mountainous area in the emirate without sustaining any injuries.

According to Al Shehhi, the section received a report from the Operations Room stating that three people were stranded at an altitude of 4,000 feet in a mountainous area in Ras Al Khaimah.

A helicopter of the section rushed to the site and airlifted the stranded Europeans to the section headquarters before handing them over to the competent authorities, he said.

Al Shehhi stressed the necessity for mountain hikers to take all preventive measures and abide by the guidelines aimed at ensuring their safety and keeping them away from rugged places that might pose a threat to their lives.

In February, the Air Wing Section at Ras Al Khaimah Police rescued eight Europeans who were stranded in a rugged mountainous area 3,500 feet above sea level in the north of the emirate.  Al Shehhi explained that the rescue operation began when the operations room received a report stating that eight Europeans were stranded in a rugged mountainous area in the north of the emirate.

A helicopter immediately headed to the site, where the stranded people were rescued and evacuated to a safe area in co-operation with a number of competent authorities, he said, noting that they were in good health.
