Light rain, 5-hour-long fog engulfs parts of UAE

Separate areas of the country on Sunday witnessed drizzles, active and sand-stirring winds and fog that lasted five and a half hours. Drizzles fell on Al Sila-Barakah Road, Al Guwaifat and Al Mirfa in Al Dhafra Region and on Abu Al Abyad Island, Al Nouf, Al Bateen, Rabdan and other separate areas in Abu Dhabi City.

Fog formed over Al Faqa in Al Ain City, Abu Dhabi-Sweihan Road, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Emirates Road, Al Ittihad Road, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road from Umm Al Quwain towards Ras Al Khaimah, Falaj Al Mualla and Al Rashidiya in Umm Al Quwain, Margham, Marqab and Al Maha in Dubai, Al Batayeh, Mleiha, Al Madam and Al Dhaid in Sharjah and other separate areas.

The lowest temperature of 13.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 3:30am and the second lowest temperature of 15 degrees Celsius was recorded at 2:45am.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on motorists to take caution while driving under rain and to stay away from large puddles and flooded valleys.

Abu Dhabi Police also called on motorist to be cautious due to the rainy weather conditions and to abide by the varying speed limit as shown on the electronic traffic signs, noting that the speed limit on Abu Dhabi-Sweihan Road (Zayed Military City roundabout – Sweihan Hills) and Al Ain-Dubai Road (Masaken-Al Faqa) was reduced to 80 km.

Monday’s weather is expected to be partly cloudy in general with a chance of drizzles in the west and south and a rise in temperature.

Light to moderate northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at 10 to 20 and up to 35 km/h, while the sea will have regular to moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Tuesday’s weather will be clear to partly cloudy in general. Light to moderate northwesterly to southwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 10 to 20 and up to 35 km/h, while the sea will have regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Wednesday’s weather will be partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times in some areas with a chance of drizzles on separate areas and a drop in temperature. Light to moderate southeasterly to northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times, while the sea will have regular to moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf and regular waves in the Sea of Oman.

Thursday’s weather is expected to be partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times in some areas with a chance of drizzles on separate areas. Light to moderate northeasterly to northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times, while the sea will have regular to moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf and regular waves in the Sea of Oman.
