The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has issued an administrative closure notice to ‘Wafra’ butchery with the licence number CN-2859971 for violating the Food Law No.2 of 2008 and the regulations made thereunder, and for posing a risk to public health.

The Authority stated that the decision to shut down the butchery was made due to repeated violations of food safety requirements. The facility received three fines and a warning to close due to repeated high-risk offences. These included selling spoiled and unfit meat for consumption, as well as handling meat (sheep with liver and head) without a slaughter or expiry date.

The closure will remain in effect until the reasons for it no longer exist. Once the violations have been corrected, all necessary requirements have been met, and the reasons for closure have been removed, the activity may resume, the ADFSA added.

The detected and addressed violations came as part of the Authority’s inspection efforts to enhance the food safety system in Abu Dhabi. It regulates and ensures that establishments comply with food safety requirements. The Authority's inspectors conduct periodic inspections of all establishments to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

To report any violations or concerns regarding the contents of food establishments, please call the toll-free number 800555. Your report will be handled with confidence and urgency.
