Visitors or residents who overstay in the UAE must pay fine of Dhs100 for each additional day after their visa expires and get an out pass (exit permit) at the airport or the immigration office at the land borders, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) said.

UAE out pass is an exit permit, which facilitates those foreigners who intend on exiting the country and do not possess a valid UAE visa because it has either expired or cancelled/rejected, ICP added.

The UAEICP system and smart application enable issuance of exit permits to overstayers in the country. The exit permit is only issued after overstayer pays the fines due.

The permit is valid for 7 days, during which applicant must leave the country and not stay after time limit, otherwise he/she will have to pay a fine of Dhs100 per each additional day after expiry of the permit, the ICP confirmed.

The required documents include original and copy of the passport of the person concerned, a copy of the travel ticket and personal photos of the concerned person.

To obtain an exit permit for a newborn who has no residency yet in the country, simply follow these steps: complete the required information, attach the necessary documents, pay the fees, evaluate the service, and receive the transaction via email.

The required documents include original and copy of the mother’s and father’s passports, child’s passport or travel document from the embassy or consulate, original and copy of the child’s birth certificate, a letter from the father stating to issue an exit permit for the child, a copy of the travel ticket, and 2 personal photos of the child.

A fee of Dhs221 has to be paid for the UAE out pass. The processing time generally takes up to 48 hours. However, it is advised that you apply earlier before your departure just in case the processing time takes longer than expected.

To check whether you need to issue a UAE out pass, you can check your travel ban through the Dubai Police’s website or application through Criminal Status of Financial Cases service. If you have a travel ban, you will get a message saying you must bring your Emirates ID, passport copy, and authority letter to the police station near you.
