A child was killed while crossing a traffic light in Sharjah after being hit by a car at the old Expo intersection on Saturday afternoon.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, stated that the child was seriously injured and died after being transferred to hospital.

He explained that the accident occurred after the signal at the old Expo intersection was green for vehicles and red for pedestrians. As the driver was crossing the signal, the child suddenly came out in front of him from the left side of the vehicle, he added.

The report was listed as a traffic case and referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office, Major General Al Shamsi added.
