Dhs2,000 fine and 12 black points for motorists making noise in Abu Dhabi residential areas

Abu Dhabi Police have warned motorists, especially young ones, against causing noise and driving recklessly on some roads, especially near residential areas.

They explained that the noise made by vehicles disturbs public peace and creates a state of panic, tension, and nervousness among other drivers, road users and residents of neighborhoods, especially children, patients and the elderly.

They also urged motorcyclists to abide by safety and security measures and to be keen not to make noise and disturbance in sand areas and family camps.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Police called on the public to report vehicles that make irritating noises in residential neighborhoods by calling the number (999) at the Command and Control Centre, stressing that they she would not lenient with drivers who do this and would take legal measures against them.

These include a fine of Dhs2,000 plus 12 black points for driving noisy vehicles in accordance with article 20 of the UAE Traffic Law and Dhs1,000 plus 12 black points for modifying the vehicle’s engine or the chassis without permission in accordance with article 73 thereof. The last violation will require the vehicle to be impounded for 30 days and to be released only after paying Dhs10,000. The vehicle will be impounded until payment of fees is made within a maximum period of three months; otherwise, the vehicle will be offered for sale at public auction.
