Fog blankets an area in Abu Dhabi city.
The UAE witnessed rain of varying intensity and fog formation due to the weather condition which lasted for 3 days, as a result of the extension of a surface air depression from the southwest, accompanied by humid southeasterly winds, with an extension of an upper air depression with a cold air mass and a western air current, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), that added that different amounts of clouds also flew from the west.
NCM indicated that light rains fell on Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi and on Fujairah International Airport, while moderate rains fell on Wadi Mai in Fujairah and Khor Fakkan in Sharjah, and heavy rains lashed Al Hail in Fujairah, and fog formed on Zakher, Al Mujai, and in the industrial area of Al Ain.
Tuesday morning, the lowest temperature, 7.0°C, was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 2:45 am, while the second lowest temperature, 8.9°C, was recorded on Mount Mubarrah at 2:00 am, NCM reported.
It expected Wednesday’s weather to be clear to partly cloudy and cloudy at times in some eastern regions, with the possibility of rain falling, and temperatures tending to rise. It will be humid at night and on Thursday morning, with a chance of fog or light fog formation in some interior regions.
Winds on Wednesday, according to the NCM, will be northeasterly to southeasterly, light to moderate, sometimes active, with a speed of 15 to 25, amounting to 35 kilometres/h, and the sea will be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.
Thursday's weather is expected by the NCM to be clear to partly cloudy and cloudy at times in some eastern regions, with the possibility of light rains, and humid at night and on Friday morning, with the possibility of fog or light fog formation in some interior areas.
Winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, sometimes active and the sea on Thursday will be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman, according to the NCM.
Friday's weather will be clear to partly cloudy, and low clouds will appear to the east and north, and humid at night and on Saturday morning, with light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, active at times, NCM indicated, adding that the sea on Friday would be light to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman.
Saturday's weather will be clear to partly cloudy, becoming cloudy at times in the north at night, with light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds gradually turning to active and northwesterly on the sea late at night and on Sunday morning, at a speed of 10 to 25, amounting to 40 kilometres/h.
The sea on Saturday will be light to moderate, gradually becoming rough late at night and on Sunday morning in the Arabian Gulf, and light in the Sea of Oman.
NCM appealed to everyone to be cautious, especially while driving during rainfall, and advised all to stay away from places where water accumulates and flowing valleys.
Abu Dhabi Police also called on motorists to be careful due to rainy weather, and to adhere to the speed limits on electronic sign boards.
